SJN is pleased to announce the rollout of its new Curriculum for the Job Search Process, a culmination of hundreds of hours of volunteer effort by over 40 individual SJN members. Among other things, the new Curriculum incorporates adult learning theory and instructional design concepts with the goal of dramatically increasing retention among participants. The first of the four part series will be presented at the North Phoenix location on July 7th.

This is a free event, and we appreciate a customary donation of $5 to help offset our costs. All participants will receive a Participant MiniWorkbook, and light refreshments are provided.

Manage the Emotions of a Career Transition and Develop Your Vision

Are you “underemployed”? “Downsized or rightsized?” Plain old “Laid off”? In this time of transition, you experience a roller coaster of emotions. Learn how to manage these emotions and discover opportunities to increase your confidence and develop a winning attitude for job search success. Finally, develop your own short-term and long-term career vision based on your situation.

Important Note: This initial module sets the foundation for the rest of SJN's Curriculum. Even if you feel your emotions, attitude, and confidence are fine,  that will not be the case for everyone you interact with, and therefore you will still benefit by attending this session.

Facilitator, Raoul Encinas, SJN Board Member and Curriculum Chair, is passionate about helping SJN become the premier career transition support group in the Valley and is focused on delivering on SJN's strategic initiatives for 2009-2010.  Raoul is Vice President at Preod, a professional services firm based in Princeton, NJ.  He has 20 years of experience leading large-scale organizational change, turnaround, and strategy initiatives.

Date/Time:  Tuesday, July 7th, 2009, 830AM

Location:      Temple Chai, 4645 E. Marilyn Rd., Phoenix, AZ 85032

Parking Guidelines:

As visitors attend SJN meetings at Temple Chai, we need to be aware that there is very limited parking on the temple grounds.  It is recommended that SJN event attendees plan to park on the streets: Marilyn or Acoma.  The spaces available at the temple are on the Marilyn Road side of the complex.  Any ”reserved” spots need to be left available for staff.  No parking spaces are available in the back of the complex.

When entering from Marilyn Road, approach the property from the eastern most driveway at the “Temple Chai Entrance” sign, and then exit onto Acoma. Follow painted arrows for traffic flow direction.Keep the speed low and watch for pedestrians, including school children, crossing the parking lot. Thank you!
